Where We Deliver · Akeley
PAUL BUNYAN COUNTRY, BUILT ON CLASS 5.
Akeley sits on Highway 34 between Walker and Park Rapids, home to the giant Paul Bunyan statue and the put-in for the Crow Wing chain of lakes. It is a small town with a big footprint of surrounding cabin country, especially around 11th Crow Wing Lake, where seasonal properties keep our trucks busy through the summer.
MATERIAL FOR TOWN AND LAKE ALIKE.
In town, Class 5 gravel (MnDOT Spec 3138) covers most driveway and small building pad work, the same dependable base we use everywhere on our route. Out on the Crow Wing chain, shoreline properties often need rip rap sized to MnDOT Spec 3601 classes to stand up to wave and ice, and we will walk you through the DNR permit process before we place any rock. Cabin lots near the water frequently need fill sand or septic sand under a mound system, and we carry both by the yard. Fieldstone and boulders are also popular around here for retaining walls and natural-looking shoreline accents.
THE RUN OUT TO AKELEY.
Our yard sits at 31923 US Highway 2 in Cass Lake, and loads bound for Akeley run down Highway 371 before cutting west on 34. We keep Akeley inside our roughly 50-mile delivery reach, which makes it a regular stop rather than a special trip. A tandem load runs somewhere around 15 tons, and we sell aggregate by the ton and soils by the yard, the same as we do across the rest of the territory.
SITE WORK FROM MAIN STREET TO THE LAKE.
Small-town projects in Akeley itself, things like a new driveway, a building pad, or a bit of grading behind a shop near Main Street, make up a good share of our work here. Out on the chain of lakes, the jobs shift toward shoreline stabilization, boat landing grading, and culvert repair where a cabin road crosses low ground. When an old shed or cabin needs to come down before something new goes up, we knock it down and haul it away ourselves.
A CALL GETS YOU SCHEDULED.
We have been family owned since the 1960s, three generations running the pit, and everything from the loader to the delivery trucks belongs to our own fleet of more than 40 machines. Call (218) 335-6249 and describe the job. We will tell you what material fits and get you on the schedule.
WHAT AKELEY ASKS US.
Do you deliver to cabins on the Crow Wing chain, not just in town? Yes, regularly. Chain-of-lakes properties around 11th Crow Wing Lake are a normal part of our route.
Is a small in-town driveway job worth calling about, or do you only do bigger jobs? Call regardless of size. We handle single driveways in town the same week we handle larger lake lots.
What is the delivered cost for gravel in Akeley? The pit can give you an exact number when you call. Pricing depends on the material and how much you need.
